New factory to produce 500,000 heat pumps a year

Case Studies

Residential heating specialist Aira is investing €300 million in a new production site in Wroclaw, western Poland, with a view to producing up to 500,000 heat pumps a year.

Coming one year after the company’s launch, the opening of the 220,000m2 site will reportedly create over 2,000 jobs and is an “instrumental” part of the company’s plans to sell 5 million heat pumps in the UK, Germany and Italy over the next 10 years, in line with expected demand.

Aira has secured a €15 million grant from the Polish government to support the establishment of the Wroclaw site, with the company hoping that the factory will also have a positive impact on the clean technology economy in western Poland. An example of this can be found in Skellefteå, Northern Sweden, where a production facility from battery manufacturer Northvolt has fundamentally altered the fabric of the city, resulting in new schools, new housing and an inflow of thousands of skilled workers from all around the world.

Martin Lewerth, Aira Group CEO said:

“The facility is not just a factory; it’s a beacon of our commitment to innovation, sustainability, and a decarbonised future for Europe. Today, 130 million boilers still heat homes across Europe, this presents a significant market opportunity while more importantly, reducing customer heating bills and carbon emissions. Our Polish production site is pivotal for this transformation, and it is great to get started now”.

Mr Lewerth and other guests will be involved in a live LinkedIn stream of the factory’s inauguration, taking place June 26, between 11am – 12pm CET. Interested parties can register here.
