Heat pump tariff launched by ScottishPower

Case Studies

A Heat Pump Saver tariff, backed by 100% green electricity, has been launched by  ScottishPower, helping customers to heat their homes at a cheaper rate throughout the day.

Via the tariff, part of the company’s ‘Greener Living’ drive, heat pump owners moving more of their heating and hot water schedule into the off-peak 11am-4pm period, when the warmer ambient air temperature allows heat to be generated more efficiently, will receive a reduced rate of 15p per kWh.

Rob McGaughey, Head of Smart Heat and Cities at ScottishPower said:

“We’re introducing the Heat Pump Saver Tariff as part of our ongoing commitment to lead the transition to greener living. Our new tariff is designed to make it easier and more affordable for our customers to adopt this green technology. The best thing is that this tariff applies to all household usage and is available to both new and existing customers. The more our heat pump customers can shift, the more they can save.”

The Saver tariff is available to ScottishPower customers who have both a heat pump at their home – all installations, not just those from ScottishPower – and a smart meter able to send half-hourly readings.

The announcement of the tariff comes as the energy provider celebrates its’ 3000th heat pump installation in the UK in the past 18 months, helping residential property owners to move away from the use of fossil fuels, as part of the country’s drive to Net Zero.
