Innovation for Agriculture, on behalf of the WWF / Tesco Partnership, have released a reference booklet providing practical guidance on ways to reduce on farm greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.
The “go to guide” offers advice on the environmental impact of different solutions vs the potential costs. It also aims to help farmers and land managers prioritise actions to take as part of their efforts to reduce on farm GHG emissions, and provides more suggestions on additional measures for those with activities already underway.
The actions contained in the guide were compiled as a result of a review of the supporting science, which were then discussed with a “broad, largely representative group of farmers”, to better understand how palatable and feasible they would be for those on the ground. The measures include:
- Cover/Catch crops in arable rotations
- Soil HeathÂ
- Manure Management
- Livestock diets and health
- Low Carbon energy & machinery
