Dr Judith Thornton, Low Carbon Manager, IBERS Aberystwyth University

Dr Judith Thornton works on projects which are reviewing the approach to Miscanthus breeding and considering how it might change to take advantage of recent scientific breakthroughs.
One of her main interests is in low carbon building materials. She has insulated her house with Miscanthus and was partly responsible for building the world’s first Miscanthus bale house.
Before coming to Aberystwyth University, Judith was a postdoc in Leeds where she researched water footprinting and water efficiency. Other previous positions include in the Welsh School of Architecture (Cardiff), Civil Engineering (Padua, Italy), and the Centre
