Michael Chesshire, director of Lutra Ltd, has worked in the biogas industry since 1975. Over the past three years Lutra has been researching a process known as power-to-methane (P2M), which involves the biological transformation of hydrogen and carbon dioxide into methane, with the hydrogen produced by electrolysis. This research, and research into other methods of producing fuel from electricity (for example, biopropane from electricity and carbon dioxide), has led him to consider the optimum utilisation both of renewable electricity and of hydrogen.
